Project Operations Manager
Project Operations Manager
Location: Wolverhampton (Office Based)
Salary: £33,000
Enitial (part of the HSL Compliance Group) is a leading UK-based independent field monitoring, sampling, and environmental services company. Acting as the vital "boots on the ground," we help industrial, waste, and water utility companies manage environmental compliance and maintain specialist monitoring equipment. This is a high-visibility leadership role where you will act as the direct deputy to the Project Delivery Manager, bridging the gap between our strategic commercial goals and day-to-day field operations to ensure our large-scale technical projects are executed flawlessly, safely, and efficiently.
The Project Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day coordination of activities that support successful project delivery. This includes full line management within the Project Delivery Team - ensuring field environmental works are efficiently scheduled, adequately resourced, and seamlessly supported through rigorous equipment management and laboratory sample coordination. You will drive operational processes, resolve logistical conflicts, and deliver peak commercial efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing
Provide leadership, guidance, and active performance management to the team handling fieldwork scheduling, equipment/resource management, and laboratory sample media coordination.
Ensure internal workloads and technical resources are effectively allocated across your support teams while championing staff training, development, and continuous improvement.
Oversee the strategic planning, routing, and scheduling of environmental field activities to ensure highly efficient service delivery, contract compliance, and total client satisfaction.
Act as the primary deputy and operational escalation point for the Project Delivery Manager, resolving complex scheduling conflicts, logistics constraints, and site-level delivery issues.
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of robust operational processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and data-driven best practices.
Contribute to business-critical operational reporting, technical resource forecasting, and continuous service delivery improvement initiatives for the Senior Management Team (SMT) and wider Group.
Liaise closely with corporate Account Executives to ensure technical works being quoted align perfectly with current capacity, localised asset availability, and regional field team skillsets.
What We’re Looking For
Strong experience leading, mentoring, and managing a team across multiple competing operational or logistical priorities.
A track record of developing or upgrading operational processes, scheduling frameworks, and field service workflows.
Strong experience overseeing complex field logistics, technical asset/equipment tracking, or laboratory/sample media coordination.
Practical, hands-on experience involving field service activities, environmental sampling, technical contracting, or mobile workforce operations.
High-level leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities with the professional presence to influence cross-functional internal teams.
A BSc or higher degree in a relevant academic field (Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Operations, or similar) is highly desirable but not essential.
